Easter Games Focus (Road Safety campaign) Edgar Legoale Foundation through its brand the Edgar Legoale Knockout Soccer Challenge will embark on a massive Road Safety campaign to plead with all motorists and pedestrians to take road safety and obey the rules of the road seriously. The deaths on our roads must come to an end. Through this campaign, we will come up with a series of programs to urge drivers most importantly the youth and women to make use of roadworthy vehicles and be considerate for other people using the roads. Part of our campaign will include engaging young people to stop texting and drinking alcohol while driving on our roads and make road safety a priority The Transport Minister Dr. Nzimande had revealed during the December festive season the road fatalities in South Africa there have been 16%+ more deaths than 2017 and shockingly the number has increased in all provinces except for Gauteng. A total of 767 people have been killed on SA roads over during the period.

As a way to market the tournament and also raise ongoing and consistent awareness on social ills in Tumahole and surrounding areas, a series of build up events is set to take place prior to the main event. The aim of these events, apart from the marketing benefits is to raise continuous aware on promoting road safety in the community. These build up events will take place according to the following programme of action: Media Briefing/Launch: Representatives from different media outlets, stakeholders, partners, and members of the community will be invited to this briefing whereby we will give our official statement with regards to our programme. This will be how we solidify a foundation on which we can build a working relationship with the media to ensure good coverage of our main event and all build up events. Affiliation of Teams: Once the teams have been selected, they will be officially affiliated with the tournament and will be named in all our marketing. Following the affiliation, teams will each take place in a mobilisation programme as one of our marketing initiatives. Activation: The activation programme will take place in the form of a convoy of cars that will drive through the streets of Parys and Tumahole with flyers of the event. The purpose of this convoy will be to create hype around the event. Each car that is involved will be branded with the official posters for the tournament and the activation will take place on the 18th April 2019.
