2022 Easter Soccer Tournament

Edgar Legoale Foundation Official Statement on the upcoming 2022 Easter Soccer Tournament

“A trophy carries dust, memories last forever.” – Mary Lou Retton

17 February 2022

The moment we all been waiting for is yet here again, the time to make good and beautiful memories with loved ones, friends, old school colleagues and the community at large through “Kasi-flavor” football tournament.

The Edgar Legoale Knockout is now a big brand known worldwide because of its professionalism and impact it has on livelihoods of young people from different corners of the country, which main impact we intend to always achieve is that of eradicating the high level of drug abuse in our kasi(Tumahole).

Drugs have now become another pandemic in our day to day lives, our young brothers and sisters are losing it on a daily basis and we are seen to be doing nothing in challenging such, hence the tournament itself strike to fight for those young fellows who are losing everything including themselves in the process of being abused by this pandemic.

Study made in 2011 found out that factors contributing to the high abuse of drugs were availability, family history, poverty, unemployment, influence, and lack of parenting.

It is believed that 13% of general population of young people in South Africa are caught up in the middle of this pandemic and are addicted to drugs, for as much as it may be because of above mentioned factors, we need to always try to make them(young people) forget about them and enjoy life in different ways, hence the Edgar Legoale Foundation Easter Soccer Tournament is at place because it brings altogether at one place to enjoy nice Kasi-flavor football.

The Foundation will embark on spreading the message in fight against drug abuse to different schools in Tumahole and surrounding towards the Tournament, we shall make sure we conscientise scholars from as early as Primary Schools about the dangers of drugs in their lives and for the betterment of their communities.

We are determined to continue helping government together with relevant stakeholders in fighting this pandemic of drug abuse, we are not to tire in playing our part in rescuing and developing young people through sports and other initiatives we have since our inception embarked on as Edgar Legoale Foundation.

We would also like to thank Metsimaholo FM, Blaqsnaps Media and Central News for joining as Media Partners to ensure that we spread the word out there.

The Foundation is looking for Sponsors to co-brand or become an official partner, whom we can add value to their businesses. Our Foundation is registered as Non-profit organisation and with SARS as Section 18A Public Benefit Organization meaning Edgar Legoale Foundation is authorized by SARS to issue its donors with a Section 18A tax certificate/receipt upon request. This will allow the donor to claim their donations as a tax deduction. In this way, as a donor, you are able to assist our foundation and also obtain a tax benefit in doing so.
