Edgar Legoale Knockout Soccer Challenge Easter Games
“Be Safe, Drive Wise”
Make road safety a priority

27 March 2019

Edgar Legoale Foundation through its brand the Edgar Legoale Knockout Soccer Challenge will host Easter Games and embark on a massive Road Safety campaign to plead with all motorists and pedestrians to take road safety and obey the rules of the road seriously.

The Edgar Legoale Knockout Soccer Challenge is a soccer tournament brand which was held for the first time in January 2018 by the Edgar Legoale Foundation. The tournament was set to be an annual event but due to high demand, we have decided to host it in every season (January Birthday Games, Easter tournament, Youth Games in June, and Festive Games in December) with a series of build up events taking place prior to the main event. These build up events will serve as the foundationss consistent effort to raise awareness programmes and help to fight social ills in our communities.

The deaths on our roads must come to an end. Through this campaign, we will come up with a series of programs to urge drivers most importantly the youth and women to make use of roadworthy vehicles and be considerate for other people using the roads.

Part of our campaign will include to engage young people to stop texting and drinking alcohol while driving on our roads and make road safety a priority .

The Transport Minister Dr. Nzimande had revealed during the December festive season the road fatalities in South Africa there have been 16%+ more deaths than 2017 and shockingly the number has increased in all provinces except for Gauteng. A total of 767 people have been killed on SA roads over during the holidays.

Riding season is up on us, everyone should ride safe, and be aware of your surroundings. We will have a series of events and programmes building towards the main event such as Church Visits , Door To Door Campaign, Toll Gate Interactions, Activation Programme and Blitz in all Public Places to raise awareness on road safety.
