The Edgar Legoale Foundation is a community‑driven non‑profit organisation dedicated to advancing youth empowerment through education, sports, tourism, arts, culture, and small business development. Our signature initiatives include the Ngwathe Easter Experience and various projects across the Free State and Gauteng provinces. We work closely with municipalities, sponsors, and community partners to achieve sustainable impact.
Reporting directly to the Chairperson, the Advisor to the Chairperson will provide high‑level strategic counsel, policy guidance, and decision support. This role demands a seasoned professional who can offer objective insights, anticipate challenges, and help position the Foundation for long‑term success. As a trusted confidant, you will assist the Chairperson in navigating complex community, governmental, and organisational dynamics while upholding the Foundation’s mission and values.
* Strategic Guidance: Help the Chairperson make sound strategic choices by providing external perspectives and challenging assumptions . This includes evaluating opportunities, guiding programme development, and ensuring decisions align with long‑term goals .
* Confidential Sounding Board: Serve as a trusted confidant and sounding board, providing unbiased feedback on sensitive matters and helping to explore potential decisions .
* Decision Support & Analysis: Analyze data, industry trends, and the performance of programmes to ensure decisions are evidence‑based and forward‑thinking .
* Strategic Planning & Risk Management: Assist in defining goals and creating actionable strategies; identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigation plans .
* Change Facilitation: Support the Foundation through transitions and new initiatives, helping to manage resistance and maintain focus on strategic objectives .
* Stakeholder Engagement: Strengthen relationships with community leaders, municipal officials, sponsors, donors, and other partners . Offer insights for effective communication and represent the Foundation when appropriate.
* Performance & Governance: Review organisational performance and provide recommendations for improvement . Assist with policy development, governance practices, and board reporting as needed.
* Long‑Term Value Creation: Advise on sustainable growth and innovation to ensure the Foundation remains resilient and mission‑aligned for the long term .
* Education: Minimum NQF Level 7 in Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, Political Science, Development Studies or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
* Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in strategic advisory, policy analysis, government relations, or senior management within non‑profit, public sector, or similar environments.
* Strategic & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, evaluate complex data, and translate insights into actionable recommendations .
* High Emotional Intelligence & Integrity: Proven track record of building trust, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders .
* Stakeholder & Partnership Development: Experience working with government entities, donors, sponsors, and community organisations.
* Adaptability & Communication Excellence: Ability to operate in dynamic environments, adjust to shifting priorities, and articulate ideas clearly and persuasively .
