A Pillar of the ELSSP and the Edgar Legoale Easter Knockout Soccer Tournament 2025

The Tumahole High Schools Tournament is an integral part of the Edgar Legoale Soccer Schools Programme (ELSSP), which was established to provide a structured platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, develop their skills, and receive mentorship from seasoned players and coaches. Through ELSSP, the foundation nurtures sporting excellence and instills core values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience among learners.

Furthermore, this event serves as an essential precursor to the highly anticipated 7th annual Edgar Legoale Easter Knockout Soccer Tournament 2025, where teams from the Free State and across the country come together to compete at a higher level. By linking the Tumahole High Schools Tournament to this broader initiative, ELF ensures a continuous pipeline for youth development, giving young players the exposure and opportunities they deserve.

Tournament Details:

  • Dates: 18 – 21 April 2025
  • Venue: Mandela Sports Ground
  • Teams: 16 teams battling for a total prize pool of R65,000
  • Theme: “SAY NO TO DRUGS, YES TO GOALS!”

Building a Drug-Free Community Through Sport

The Edgar Legoale Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to keep youth focused, one goal at a time. Recognising the impact of substance abuse on young people, the foundation has made it a priority to integrate anti-drug campaigns within its sporting initiatives. By engaging students in competitive sports and rewarding schools for their commitment to drug awareness, ELF seeks to create a safe, healthy, and thriving community.

ELSSP Launch Success

On 29 March 2025, ELF successfully launched the Edgar Legoale Soccer Schools Programme (ELSSP) at Phehellang Secondary School, bringing together the five Tumahole High Schools, the Free State Department of Education, the South African Police Service, Free State Care in Action, and the Tumahole Teachers Football Club. This event set the foundation for a strong and impactful programme aimed at uplifting youth through structured sporting initiatives.
