The Edgar Legoale Foundation extends its deepest condolences following the untimely passing of Jayden Adams, a talented footballer, and Luqobo “Bibo” Makwedini, a promising rugby player.

The passing of these two young South Africans is a profound loss not only to their families and loved ones, but also to the football and rugby communities, and to the many young people who looked up to them as symbols of discipline, perseverance and hope.

Jayden Adams’ contribution to football and Luqobo “Bibo” Makwedini’s commitment to rugby reflected the values of hard work, humility and excellence. Through their passion and dedication to their respective sports, they inspired many young people to believe that talent, when matched with discipline and determination, can create opportunities and transform lives.

As a Foundation committed to youth development through education, sport, leadership and community empowerment, we recognise the important role that sport plays in shaping character, building resilience and inspiring future generations. The lives of Jayden Adams and Luqobo Makwedini serve as reminders that young people have the power to make a lasting impact within their communities and beyond.

Chairperson of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, Mr Edgar Legoale, said the passing of Jayden Adams and Luqobo Makwedini is a heartbreaking loss for South Africa and a reminder of the importance of celebrating and supporting young people as they pursue their dreams.

“Jayden Adams and Luqobo ‘Bibo’ Makwedini represented the hopes and aspirations of many young South Africans. Through football and rugby, they demonstrated that success is built on discipline, commitment and perseverance. Their lives will continue to inspire future generations to pursue excellence with humility, integrity and purpose. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers remain with their families, loved ones, teammates and everyone affected by this tragic loss,” said Mr Legoale.

The Edgar Legoale Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to the Adams and Makwedini families, their friends, teammates, the South African football and rugby fraternities, and all those mourning their passing.
