EDGAR LEGOALE FOUNDATION TO CONTINUE TUMAHOLE SCHOOLS TOUR PROGRAMME IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
10 June 2026
The Edgar Legoale Foundation is pleased to announce the continuation of its educational outreach programme in Tumahole following the successful implementation of Project 100 Schools in partnership with the Bakgethwa Foundation.
The programme will be undertaken in partnership with the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe Local Municipality, Councillor Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni, as part of a collective effort to promote dignity, educational support and learner development across Tumahole primary schools.
On 27 May 2026, the Foundation collaborated with the Bakgethwa Foundation and the Department of Education in hosting a Grade 12 motivation and learner support programme at Phehellang Secondary School under the theme “Walking With Purpose, Inspiring Greatness.” The programme reached more than 1 000 learners from secondary schools across Parys and Vredefort and focused on motivation, mentorship and academic encouragement.
Building on the success of that initiative, the Edgar Legoale Foundation will now continue its outreach efforts in primary schools through the Tumahole Schools Tour 2026 School Shoes Handover Programme.
The programme will be led by the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe Local Municipality, Councillor Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni, who will join the Foundation at Selokgilwe Primary School on Thursday, 11 June 2026 at 07h30 to officially commence the primary school outreach programme.
Councillor De Beer-Mthombeni, an MBA graduate and a passionate advocate for education and youth development, has consistently emphasized the importance of investing in learners and creating opportunities that empower young people to reach their full potential. Her participation in the programme reflects a shared commitment between the municipality and the Foundation to support educational development and learner wellbeing within the Ngwathe community.
The programme at Selokgilwe Primary School will include learner engagement, words of encouragement and the official handover of school shoes. Following the proceedings at Selokgilwe Primary School, the Edgar Legoale Foundation will continue with school shoe handovers at the remaining participating schools, namely:
The primary school outreach programme aims to restore dignity, inspire confidence and encourage learners to pursue their educational journey with pride and purpose. The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader mission of empowering communities through education and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
Members of the media are invited to attend the programme at Selokgilwe Primary School and engage with stakeholders as the Foundation continues its commitment to supporting learners across Tumahole.
Chairperson of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, Mr Edgar Legoale, said that investing in learners at an early stage is essential in building future leaders and strengthening communities.
“The success of our recent secondary school programme has reinforced the importance of working together to support our learners. As we continue our journey into primary schools, we remain committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and inspired to achieve their full potential,” said Mr Legoale.
