The Edgar Legoale Foundation congratulates Phehellang Secondary School and Selogilwe Primary School on qualifying to represent the Free State at the SASCE National Championships. This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of learners, educators, conductors and school communities who continue to nurture excellence through music and cultural expression.

Communities that invest in the arts invest in more than performances. They invest in preserving heritage, celebrating identity and creating opportunities that empower young people to realise their full potential. For the Edgar Legoale Foundation, supporting arts and culture is not simply about sponsoring initiatives; it is about building a sustainable legacy that inspires future generations and contributes meaningfully to community development.

This conviction continues to shape the Foundation’s work. Through initiatives such as the Ngwathe Easter Experience, which has become a platform for both established and emerging artists, and the Tumahole Heritage Project, which preserves and celebrates the rich history of one of South Africa’s historic township communities, the Foundation remains committed to ensuring that arts, culture and heritage continue to serve as instruments for education, social cohesion and sustainable development.

In keeping with this commitment, the Foundation supported the participation of Phehellang Secondary School and Selogilwe Primary School in the national championships as part of its broader mission to create meaningful opportunities for young people. The Foundation believes that when talent is recognised, nurtured and supported, it has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities and leave a lasting legacy.

As the two schools represent the Free State on the national stage, they carry with them not only the pride of their respective schools, but also the hopes of their communities and the rich cultural heritage of the province.

The Edgar Legoale Foundation wishes both schools every success and looks forward to celebrating their achievements.

Chairperson of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, Mr Edgar Legoale, reflected on the significance of the achievement:

“The future of our communities depends on the opportunities we create for young people today. Every investment in the arts is an investment in our heritage, our identity and our collective future. When young people are given platforms to develop and showcase their talents, we are not only celebrating their achievements, we are building confident leaders, preserving our cultural legacy and creating sustainable change. We congratulate Phehellang Secondary School and Selogilwe Primary School on this remarkable achievement and wish them every success as they proudly represent the Free State at the Nationals.”
