About the Edgar Legoale Foundation

The Edgar Legoale Foundation is a youth‑focused, community‑driven non‑profit organisation dedicated to empowering communities through education, sports, tourism, arts, culture and small business development.  We host flagship events such as the Ngwathe Easter Experience and various programmes that connect businesses, municipalities, sponsors and community partners to create sustainable impact.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Foundation Manager, the Sponsorship & Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for building and managing the foundation’s sponsorship and partnership portfolio.  The role focuses on identifying and cultivating corporate partners, securing sponsorships, and ensuring that partnerships align with the foundation’s mission and deliver mutual benefits.

Key Responsibilities

* Prospecting and Pipeline Development: Identify and research potential sponsors and partners by analysing corporations and foundations with capacity and propensity to give .  Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of corporate sponsors and donors .

* Relationship Building and Stewardship: Initiate and strengthen relationships with key corporate donors through systematic cultivation .  Manage a portfolio of new and returning sponsors, ensuring they are actively engaged and supported .  Provide stewardship plans and ensure sponsors receive agreed‑upon benefits .

* Sponsorship Solicitation and Negotiation: Solicit and secure sponsorships to meet revenue targets for the foundation’s programmes and events, including high‑profile events like the Ngwathe Experience .  Negotiate sponsorship packages, ensuring benefits are tailored to partner needs and that the foundation retains alignment with its mission .

* Partner Engagement and Activation: Oversee partner recruitment and cultivation events, coordinating sponsor activation strategies, benefits fulfilment, signage and seating .  Work closely with the events and communications teams to integrate sponsors into marketing campaigns and ensure that event branding and recognition meet sponsor agreements .

* Programme & Fundraising Support: Assist in developing fundraising plans that integrate corporate relations, sponsorships, in‑kind donations and employee giving programmes .  Monitor the delivery of benefits, invoicing and payment collection and ensure compliance with ethical gift‑acceptance policies .

* Data Management and Reporting: Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate records in the foundation’s CRM/database; track contacts, proposals, benefits and sponsorship performance for reporting and analysis .  Provide regular updates to the Foundation Manager on sponsor pipeline progress and fulfilment status.

* Collaboration: Collaborate with the events team, Executive Assistant, Marketing & Communications teams and volunteers to ensure that partnership agreements are delivered seamlessly.  Coordinate with external partners (municipalities, corporates, media) to maximise the reach and impact of sponsorships and partnerships.

Qualifications & Experience

* Education: Degree or diploma (NQF Level 7 or higher) in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Fundraising, Communications or related field.

* Professional Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in sponsorship management, corporate fundraising, business development or related roles.  Experience managing a portfolio of corporate sponsors or donors is highly desirable.

* Proven Fundraising & Partnership Skills: Demonstrable ability to identify and engage corporate partners; experience negotiating sponsorships and delivering on sponsor benefits .

* Relationship & Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior executives and diverse partners; strong interpersonal skills to maintain long‑term partnerships .

* Organisational & Project Management: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, including event logistics, sponsorship fulfilment and reporting .

* Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with CRM/databases and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with marketing tools and social media platforms for sponsor recognition and event promotion.

* Personal Attributes: Self‑motivated, results‑oriented and able to thrive both independently and within a collaborative team environment.  A passion for community development and youth empowerment is essential.
